Day 1

I have no idea how to blog so please forgive me.

After a sleepless but easy flight, we started off our first day in Munich by doing a little bit of sightseeing on our way to lunch before we could check into our hotel. Munich is absolutely beautiful, of course.

This included our first walk to Karlsplatz and down to Marienplatz, where we sat in a real German biergarten, enjoyed some real German weißwurst, potatoes, and sauerkraut. I also had my first legal drink, a weird sounding but absolutely delicious combo of lemonade and German beer. (S/O to ECal for hooking us up with a radler.)

We were then able to check into the hotel, where we took a much needed shower but refused to let ourselves fall asleep. Erin and I deliriously wandered to a coffee shop and silently force fed ourselves caffeine, followed by a confusing trip to a German CVS-type store. We finally wandered back out for dinner around 7:30, where Erin used her pretty solid German skills to decipher what we could possibly eat. We found a perfect place and some nice Texans at a neighboring table let us in on the secret pasta bolognese on the menu. The sun set around 9, leaving us with a beautiful sunset on our walk home to finally sleep.
